Web Site Report
March 2007
2007, Christian Sauve
Ready for another look at the hum-drum routine of an obscure web site? Here are the monthly highlights for christian-sauve.com:
1. Mmm. Numbers...
My prickly "Urchin" web stats engine tells me that...
Report for: christian-sauve.com, March 2007
Total Visitors: 10,287
Total Pageviews: 23,650
(Corrected Total: 13,402)
Total Hits: 27,333
Total Bytes Transferred: 480.5MB
Average Visitors Per Day: 331.83
Average Pageviews Per Day: 762.9
(Corrected Average: 432.3)
Average Hits Per Day: 881.7
The "corrected" numbers take out the CSS, robots.txt, PDFs, mis-filed graphic files (ICO, GIF, JPG) and other non-public files mistakenly considered "pages" by the statistics pre-digestion engine. All numbers are noticeably higher than last month.
Our top ten most popular pages are:
/index.html 614 /texts/free-movie-tickets.htm 423 /about.html 237 /reviews.html 183 /texts/worldcon-2004-noreascon4.htm 148 /francais/index.html 140 /reviews/1996/books96b.htm 133 /writings.html 127 /texts/being-canadian.htm 125 /ctact.html 122
The continued good showing of old, old, old reviews (some of which I repudiate) comes a mention on the Wikipedia page about Eric Harry's "Arc Light" novel, mentioned in January. (See below for correlation).
If you care about such things, (and who would not?), here's a look at browser statistics for the month (by visitors, last month's results in parentheses):
Netscape|6 4937 (4944) Explorer|6 1639 (1337) Explorer|7 814 (679) Explorer|5 810 (534) msnbot|1 803 (760)
I keep expecting Explorer|7 to surge forward dramatically, but so far it's been a relatively slow climb, month after month.
2. Where do these people come from?
Our top five sources of referrals (in visitors) were
google.com/search 1091 (1061) www.google.ca/search 370 (312) google.co.uk/search 100 (118) wikipedia.org/wiki/Arc_Light 72 (93) www.google.fr/search 63 (43)
No changes from last month.
3. Ohh! Visitor comments!
A little bit of spam and no legit messages in the christian-sauve.com mailbox this month. Sorry.
4. Search Queries Oddities
(This being the section in which we take a look at the search engine queries used by various visitors to find christian-sauve.com)
Here are our top-ten queries:
>rene angelil is of what kind of descent 58 >christian sauve 24 >free movie screenings 19 >advance screenings 16 >being canadian 14 >solaris explanation 11 >free movie tickets 9 >roderick thorp 8 >movie sneak previews 8 >how to get free movie tickets 8
The lone oddity here (about René Angelil) can be blamed on a radio trivia contest somewhere in the US. Suddenly, every listener just types the question verbatim in the search engine and clicks on as amny links as possible.
>canadian book about baseball aliens and the mafia >nazi teddy bears
This almost sounds like fun.
>is it possible to take out your eyeball and not die
This, on the other hand, not so much.
Until next time, my name is Christian Sauvé and I remain... obsessed by web statistics.
